Blackthorn - The Dark Crone of the Woods

The ancient Celts named Blackthorn, Straif, from which the English word Strife is said to derive from. In Celtic tree lore, Straif has the most sinister reputation because it has been associated with dark witchcraft or those times in our lives when fate has dealt a devastating blow. However, like the hedge that it forms, it is also fiercely protective, keeping us safe during those times of unavoidable strife. Ritually, Blackthorn is used to clear and protect against negative energy. Meditating on Blackthorn can purify our minds of negative thoughts and impulses at the deepest level of our psyche. It can aid us in combating fear, depression and anger. Adrian and Jo lead us through the dark time of the year, exploring our darkest challenges, using meditation to meet the Crone, and our animal spirit guide to whom we may turn to for guidance and protection. Herbal Medicine: We discuss the healing properties of Blackthorn (The Sloe tree) and how we can use it to keep ourselves safe from illness throughout the darkness of winter. Other berries such as Elderberry, Rosehip and Blackberry will also be discussed.

College of Psychic Studies
HOST:
College of Psychic Studies - The College was founded in 1884 by a group of eminent scholars and scientists. Its purpose was to facilitate formal investigation into the psychic and mediumistic phenomena that were such a topic of debate in the Victorian era. With great courage, this group of distinguished people, some notable in science, others from within the ranks of the Anglican clergy, defied the prevailing canons of respectability in order to proclaim to a world of increasing materialism that human personality survives bodily death and that this is capable of demonstration.
