DMRT - an evolution in Therapy

Discovering Dynamic Mind Realignment Therapy (DMRT) - a radical evolution in therapy. Hello, my name is Graham Howes. I come from Norfolk farming stock, but I’ve spent much of my life working in the creative industries — as an actor, singer, director, writer, and sometimes a teacher. These days, I’m also developing a television series with my partner, Karen Lynne. About 20 years ago, while performing in Fame the Musical, I decided to take a different path. I trained as an hypnotherapist and NLP practitioner, and since then, I’ve had the privilege of working with many thousands of clients. Over the years, my approach to therapy has grown organically, shaped not just by formal training but by constantly researching solutions and, most importantly, by listening to my clients and working with them to deliver bespoke outcomes. I have worked with: Trauma, PTS, Addiction, Habits, Weight Loss, Smoking, Anxiety, Depression, Fear and Phobia and much more. It has also been informed by my 20 years of offering Past Life Regression sessions and, more recently, Life Between Lives. The Birth of DMRT Through this work, I developed Dynamic Mind Realignment Therapy (DMRT) — a flexible and client-centered model that draws on the road tested best of many approaches: All forms of Hypnotherapy & NLP CBT and ACT Counselling techniques Elements from both classic and modern and niche therapeutic models PLR/LBL I didn’t want to be tied to one rigid method. Instead, I wanted to ask: What actually works for this person, right now? DMRT is about real-world results — helping people untangle the deeper causes behind their challenges, whether that’s trauma, anxiety, depression, pain, self medicating habits or addictions or unhelpful patterns of thought and behaviour. Why the Unconscious Matters This following is a model, of course, but it works: Most people think the conscious mind is running the show — but it’s more like the tip of an iceberg. Beneath the surface, the unconscious is quietly handling millions of processes every second: regulating the heartbeat, processing sensations, storing memories, and shaping reactions. This explains why we sometimes do things we know aren’t good for us (like reaching for a cigarette or overeating) — because part of us believes it’s helping, based on old experiences. My role is to help clients realign those patterns, so the unconscious can work with them instead of against them drawing on best practice and the best of your experiences instead of being defined by setbacks in our life. From Fight-or-Flight to Calm Clarity Life constantly bombards us with information. Our mind scans for threats — a reflex rooted in survival. In the modern world, that same mechanism can show up as anxiety, anger, or feeling stuck. Through DMRT, we work on transforming those automatic responses. Instead of spiralling into “what ifs” and catastrophising, clients learn to pause, reset, and choose more helpful responses — turning fear into focus, anxiety into clarity, or addiction into more useful pursuits. The Power of Imagination Imagination is not just child’s play — it’s one of the most powerful tools for change. Whether you see vivid pictures, get strong feelings, or process things like a puzzle, imagination lets us explore new possibilities. I often ask clients a simple but profound question: What if it could be different? That “what if” opens the door to new choices, just as artists, scientists, and innovators throughout history have discovered breakthroughs by stepping away from old patterns. A Living, Evolving Therapy DMRT isn’t a fixed formula. It’s a living approach, drawing from pioneers like Milton Erickson, Dave Elman, and more recent therapies such as CBT and ACT. I also use modern tools — including AI research — to keep refining what works best for real people, in real situations. Every client is different, so the therapy adapts to you. Some respond better to structured techniques; others thrive with creative, imaginative work. Either way, the goal is the same: to realign the mind toward lasting calm, confidence, and freedom Could DMRT Help You? Over two decades of working with clients, I’ve seen people overcome challenges they once thought were impossible. Whether it’s anxiety, low self-esteem, trauma, or habits that feel out of control, DMRT offers a way forward. If you’re curious about how this might help you, I’d be glad to talk. Sometimes, the first step is simply reaching out and discovering what’s possible. ✦ If you’d like to learn more or explore working with me, feel free to send me a message. I’m always happy to answer questions and share how DMRT might support you. I’m doing a live Q & A exclusively on Deeper as so far this has only been available to clients face to face or online globally. 14th August at 7pm UK time Deeper is a global spiritual community based in Italy and is free to join.
