His dissertation 'The Sustainability of Traditional Knowledge Systems' draws on 30 years immersion and 20 years professional application in a Taoist system of cultivation. The central practice of his dissertation applies a proposed 3-strand model for sustainability: embodied knowledge, traditional knowledge and application – to create the first ever embodied practice degree in the West that values such learning from the East. Dr Boyd is a Research Associate with UC Davis Theatre & Dance researching how Asian training in energy enhances acting. He founded the IFTR ERWG and is Founding Director for Intercultural Roots, an international body for embodied research. As wisdom culture consultant to The We Company he supports curriculum and staff development at WeGrow. Dr Boyd lives in Yorkshire and teaches the Taoist arts in London, Europe and in North America. He supports people wishing to form not-for-profits.
