The Meditation practices we offer By the Leigh Buddhist Community are those of the Hanmi Esoteric School of Buddhism.

These ancient practices are based on the use of what are called the Three Mysteries" which are, Mantra, Mudra and Visualisation. May all sentient beings have happiness and the cause of happinness, this is the measureless love May all sentient beings leave suffering and the causes of suffering this is the measureless compassion May all sentient being not separate from the sympathetic joy that is beyond happiness and suffering, this is the measureless joy May all sentient beings leave attachment to dear ones and aversion to others, this is the measureless equanimity of renouncing.

Spiritual Healing

Every Day – Monday at 11am, Tuesday – Saturday 10am and Sunday at 11am
Whether you’re healthy or suffering from physical, emotional, or spiritual blocks you can receive this free ancient healing technique. Similar to Reiki, you sit quietly, upright with your eyes closed and palms facing up, resting on your lap – £ – Please make a donation

Temple Timetable:

Daily – 09:00 am – Morning Chanting for the Temple Space and Community
Daily – 08:00 am – Morning Meditation practice for Students
Every Full Moon & New Moon (see calendar) – 5:30 pm – Assist the Deceased Dharma Rite. Experience the benefit of praying for your ancestors and loved ones who have passed away. Temple practitioners chant Buddhist mantras for your predecessors and for all sentient beings. Duration: 45 minutes

Meditation is a 2,500 year old practice of quietening the mind to enable us to have access to who we truly are. It does not need to be a religious practice, you could make it a practice of time for yourself, outside the ‘doing’ world of your day. Many people believe they can’t meditate because they can’t stop their thoughts. Meditation is not about stopping thoughts. Meditation is about observing your thoughts; recognising the thought patterns, whether they are negative, judgemental etc. and then taking a step back.Become aware of your thoughts; not just in your meditation practice but in your daily life. Recognise them as just thoughts and release your attachment to them. Our thoughts are only our perspective, and there are as many perspectives in the world as there are people.There are many benefits to meditation, including:

Jo Slater - I'm the founding Director of the Centre, Zhi Ling is an ordained Buddhist teacher and runs meditation and healing sessions weekly and Mindfulness courses monthly. She is a huge advocate of teaching and promoting the benefits of meditation and visits schools, groups and organisations within the local community giving talks and workshops.
