10:00 – 16:30 BST
This day-long workshop will bring together campaigners fighting dirty extractive energy, such as fracking, coal, incineration, nuclear and biomass, and fuel poverty, with community energy groups working to bring about the clean energy revolution. We aim to discover how we can better work together to bring about the energy transformation the UK desperately needs for the climate, the environment and for society.
We will learn from each other's campaigns and projects and identify areas for collaboration and mutual support. We will also discuss how we can counter government and industry efforts to "divide and rule" and play off different campaigns against each other (e.g. that we need fracking because of energy bills, or can't have renewables and warm homes, or we need nuclear/biomass due to the coal phase-out).
We will discuss what we want OUR energy system to look like and how we're going to get there - because we happen to believe we don't have to make these false choices. We can reduce energy demand, phase out fossil fuels and produce enough clean, renewable energy to run a decent society and have healthy lives.
Liverpool Quaker Meeting House is centrally located, close to both Liverpool Lime Street and Liverpool Central stations, as well as bus stops and parking. The building is fully accessible.
Once you have RSVP'ed, more information, including a full agenda and lunch options, will be sent to you.
Look forward to seeing you there!
