TLC Training from the Soul Midwives School - COMFORT, HOLISTIC SUPPORT AND REASSURANCE AT THE END OF LIFE

This training is designed to enhance the care offered by anyone, to people at the end of life. At the forefront of the training is compassionate support to the dying and to those with progressive or life-limiting illness. It involves a unique examination of the stages of dying and offers simple tools and gentle therapeutic techniques to aid comfort. TLC training is based on the pioneering movement of the Soul Midwives School founded by Felicity Warner (voted 2017 End of Life Care Champion by The National Council for Palliative Care and the Royal College of Nursing and End of Life Doula of the Year 2017- Good Funeral Awards). Soul midwives are non-medical, holistic companions who guide and support the dying in order to facilitate a gentle and tranquil death. The School’s gentle dying techniques in holistic palliative care have now been adopted in many hospices throughout the UK. Content includes: • four stages of dying framework • simple therapeutic techniques to calm agitation, anxiety and tension including soothing touch • listening skills • sitting with a patient during the final hours This day will include handouts, a TLC certificate from the Soul Midwives School and entry towards their practitioner training. Mandy Preece is a soul midwife and tutor at the Soul Midwives School. In 2013, Mandy initiated a volunteer bedside companion scheme at Macmillan Caring Locally (an NHS palliative care unit in Dorset). Volunteers receive her training so they can support people at the end of life or sit with someone who is dying alone. In 2017 the training was awarded the Princess Royal Training Award for best practice in the workplace. Mandy has now helped other hospices set up similar schemes.

College of Psychic Studies
HOST:
College of Psychic Studies - The College was founded in 1884 by a group of eminent scholars and scientists. Its purpose was to facilitate formal investigation into the psychic and mediumistic phenomena that were such a topic of debate in the Victorian era. With great courage, this group of distinguished people, some notable in science, others from within the ranks of the Anglican clergy, defied the prevailing canons of respectability in order to proclaim to a world of increasing materialism that human personality survives bodily death and that this is capable of demonstration.
