The First Presidency has announced public open house dates for the newly renovated Baton Rouge Louisiana Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 10339 Highland Road, Baton Rouge. The public is invited to visit the temple during a free open house from October 26-November 2. Hours are Monday-Thursday from 2 p.m.-8 p.m. and Friday and Saturdays from 8 a.m.-8 p.m. The temple will be closed on Sunday, October 27. At the conclusion of the open house, the temple will be formally rededicated on Sunday, November 17, by Elder Quentin L. Cook of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. Attendance to the session will be by invitation. The Baton Rouge Louisiana Temple was originally dedicated on July 16, 2000, by Gordon B. Hinckley, President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from 1995 to 2008. It was closed in February 2018 for an extensive renovation project on both the interior and exterior of the building. Worldwide, there are 217 temples operating, announced or under construction. The Baton Rouge Louisiana Temple will serve members of the Church in Louisiana and Mississippi. Latter-day Saint temples differ from the meetinghouses or chapels where members meet for Sunday worship services. Temples are considered "houses of the Lord" where Christ's teachings are reaffirmed through marriage, baptism and other ordinances that unite families for eternity. Inside, members learn more about the purpose of life and make covenants to serve Jesus Christ and their fellow man. Date and Time: 26th October 2019 at 8:00 am to 2nd November 2019 at 8:00 pm
