ME/CFS Fibromyalgia, POTS, & Hypermobility - Insights to Healing

ME/CFS Fibromyalgia, POTS, & Hypermobility - Insights to Healing
This is a four hour workshop in Leigh on sea, discussing some of the following conditions, ME/CFS, Fibromyalgia, POTS and Hypermobility. The aim here, is to get inspired, uplifted, to learn incredibly useful tools, and strategies to assist your own healing, so you can make positive shifts. Furthermore coming into a supportive group space, I will help you to access many insights, so that you have the knowledge, and wisdom you need to begin to turn things around, up the ante and to create a dialogue with your BodyMind. Feel free to come, no matter what stage you feel you are at. There is wheelchair access at the venue. You are welcome to "feel bad" yet still attend, and listen in to what you need. I feel I can be of use on this area of wellbeing and healing, because I speak from personal experience, from a long road of progress, growth and learning. I have moved from being housebound and largely sofa bound, for two years, to using a wheelchair for a year, to slowly building a very active life, full of exercise and new experiences. At one point I was on heavy medication, and I could hardly walk 50 metres. I couldn't get from room to room, and I couldn't wash my own hair for a year. Now walking a couple of miles a day is normal. I have been drug free for over a year. I also swim regularly, do pilates, exercise biking and kayaking. I also run two busy self-employed businesses and love to socalise. I can also have stand up showers and everything ;) sometimes I even push my husband round in the wheelchair for fun! I can laugh now, but when things are dark and confusing, and you are full of intense, crippling pain and exhaustion, it’s no laughing matter. He assured me that one day I would be pushing him, yet it was hard to believe. Let this workshop be an opening for you to move through suffering. You deserve more good. I learned so many tools during an intense 5/6 year period with a major body crash, and subsequent mental health issues that frankly took me beyond the brink. The area of mind and body cannot be separated. In order to heal we must be inclusive and holistic. Because of this deep juncture, my relationship to myself, my body, others, and the world has shifted. These conditions often create an overlay and many people experience one or more of these. Therefore people often experience a subset of these things, with chronic tiredness / exhaustion in many cases, pain and a whole host of nasty symptoms. At the most scariest, I experienced seizures, and was pinned down in hospital during one, so I know just how scary it can feel. The inspiration for this motivational and supportive workshop comes from my own journey with these conditions. There will be a central theme of looking at the psychological meanings behind these health experiences, obviously because I am a trained therapist, and because, working on my own psychology was the most fundamental aspect to my continual recovery. However, there will also be a focus on a broad range of topics, and techniques for healing, because I believe it is a unified nature which assists us in coming into harmony once more, or indeed getting there for the first time ever. Movement is also another area that I have a lot of experience with, I know strategies for re-building and negotiating flares, and relapses. I will bring together many ideas and information from my intensive studying into these conditions, including what experts in the field have said. I feel that when looking at healing there are a number of areas that feed into our situations, genetic (what we were given), environmental (habits and life state), personality, (ways of being helpful and unhelpful and relationship to body). There will be a slide show, with useful material. Some of the main areas I will cover with more in depth info: Ideas on ME/CFs and the crash stage (Adrenal Crisis) Links between the conditions and Chronic Fatigue POTS and Fibro - Where is the pain coming from? Maladaptive stress response and symptoms Hypermobility and Movement - Balanced Body Training Keys to planning your own recovery Analysing your life stressors The Four types of Tiredness The Depleting Personality Traits Basic underlying medical imbalances to rule out Cycles within cycles and getting out of them Managing setbacks and flares Moving beyond labels / victimhood and mental suffering Self-love and nurture as part of the journey Negotiating relationships with others Questions and answers - giving you information and tips What is recovery to you? I feel there are a few stages to this healing journey, the crash and acceptance stage, the investigative / learning stage, the assimilation of change stage 1, and stage 2, and then integration stage. What follows is a re-birthed stage, back into life. No matter what stage you are at, this workshop will give you a whole new platform to work from and ideas to bring into greater awareness for your next step.
