WHAT IS ENERGY?

The word ‘energy’ is derived from the Greek word Energia (ένέργεια). In ancient Greece, ένέργεια had a much broader meaning than it does now – it wasn’t just referred to as a physical concept, but also extended to philosophical concepts such as happiness, imagination and pleasure.
Physical energy is a quantitative measure which can be transferred to an object to either move or heat up the object. The energy law of conservation states:

The energy has not been destroyed – only transformed to another type or types.
