Primordial Wisdom: Emptiness and Buddha-nature w/ Khentrul Rinpoche

Wisdom has one purpose: to remove ignorance. Through wisdom, we can learn how to stop perpetuating the mind which supports these obscurations. In order to do this we need, to realize the nature of reality then habituate ourself to that realization. The buddha, understanding that sentient beings are at different stages on the path to enlightenment, taught the teaching of ultimate reality in gradual phases in relation to each turning of the wheel of dharma. Each turning focuses on a particular subject matter which is suitable for a practitioner at a particular stage of development. Emptiness and buddha-nature are often taught outside of this context which can lead to confusion about which teaching on emptiness is definitive and obscures the essence of our ultimate nature. Khentrul Rinpooche cuts through to the essence to transmit the meaning in plain english for each turning of the wheel of dharma. Khentrul Rinpoche will shed light on the rangtong / zhentong debate to point out the definitive meaning and what each perspective is saying about buddha-nature. Over the course of the weekend, we hope to create a space in which many questions will arise at all levels, leading to discussion and debate of ideas, cultivating the opportunity for clarity to arise. Shar Khentrul Jamphel Lodro Rinpoche spent the first 20 years of his life herding yak and chanting mantras on the plateaus of Tibet. Inspired by the bodhisattvas, he left his family to study in a variety of monasteries under the guidance of over twenty-five masters in all the Tibetan buddhist traditions. Due to his non-sectarian approach, he earned himself the title of Rime (unbiased) Master and was identified as the reincarnation of the famous Kalachakra Master Ngawang Chozin Gyatso. While at the core of his teachings is the recognition that there is great value in the diversity of all spiritual traditions found in this world; he focuses on the Jonang-Shambhala tradition.
